23rd UK Brushmakers and Suppliers Golf Day - Report by Andrew McIlroy, Perlon

After a brief warm up consisting of a bacon roll and a cup of coffee, 8 competitors set off for the morning 9-hole event played on the Brockhill course. The winner of the Bristle and Hair Cup was Rob Coleman of Coleman Hall Products with an impressive score of 20 stableford points. Pipped into 2nd place was Andrew McIlroy of Perlon with 19 points.
After an informal lunch on the terrace, 15 players set out to compete over the challenging 18-hole Weatheroak layout for a variety of prizes. Most players made it round dry before the heavens opened late afternoon, forcing us inside for the prize presentation.

The victory spoils went to Michelle Graham with 37 stableford points, clinching the Herbert Samuel Memorial Cup. Second place was Adam Carter of Richard Carter Ltd with 35.
The High Handicap Trophy (hcp 20 and over) was awarded to Allen Johnson and the Team Trophy (best 2 scores per team) was won by Michelle Graham, Richard Morgan (Bristle Hair & Fibre) and event organiser extraordinaire John Bennett. Other prizes included Nearest to the Pin on the 16th hole, and Longest Drive on the 8th, both won by newcomer Ed James from Wooster Brush.
In the evening, a number of competitors made the short drive to The Abbey Hotel in Beoley for an enjoyable dinner and the chance to catch up with industry colleagues and old friends.

This event will be held again next year in early July 2020 (date TBC) and any golfers with links to the brush industry (worldwide) are very welcome to take part in a fun, well organised and very good value for money golf day.
